WHAT

Paddle Board Yoga is Yoga performed on a Paddle Board.  Paddle boards that are especially designed for the participant to enjoy the course to the fullest.
Paddle Board Yoga Chania aims to introduce you to a unique yoga experience while enjoying the natural splendor of floating on water.

This unique activity combines a variety of asanas that our experienced teachers adjust to the status of the participants, according to their abilities and prior experience with Yoga. If you’re looking for a new challenge, yoga on a stand up paddle board will reinvigorate you and become the highlight of your vacations. Whether you are a beginner or an avid yogi, we can promise that you will have the most amazing time with us.

WHY

1. IT’S FUN
It’s well-known that novelty is important in exercise regimens in order to stay motivated and happy. According to the National Institute of Health (US), “Mixing it up also helps to reduce boredom and cut your risk of injury.” There are many different types of yoga, but it’s still easy to fall into a rut. Trying paddleboard yoga will keep you on your toes.

2. IT’S HEALTHY
You’ll be more in tune with your poses. Since the platform is unstable, you have to engage your core more for better balance. L.A.-based yoga instructor Dice lida-Klein told Men’s Fitness that the workout is more challenging. “Your whole midsection will have to work to keep you balanced and afloat. You have to work harder and focus more on the water.”

Between breathing fresh air, soaking up vitamin D and enjoying the natural landscape, it beats just about any gym or studio out there. “Yoga means ‘union,'” Hilary Kimblin, owner of Yoga Under the Trees in Beverley Hills, CA, told Yoga Journal. “When it’s practiced outdoors it seems like the union with nature, humanity, and the universe is truly felt.”

4. IT CALMS & HELPS YOUR BREATH
Ocean Breath, is a popular yoga method for breathing because the “ocean” sound is believed to soothe your mind. Some researchers believe that listening to the sound  of the ocean can help people to relax. The gentle sound of water lapping while on a  paddleboard will help you relax and key you in to the most important aspect of yoga: your breath.

Our instructor will introduce you to Stand Up Paddling at the beginning of the lesson and you will be able to balance and feel comfortable on your board after the first few minutes.

There is absolutely no need for you to have prior experience of SUP or SUP Yoga.

FEW TIPS

A few tips for those who try SUP for the first time:

Εάν είστε αρχάριος, αφήστε την πρώτη σας φορά να είναι σε ήρεμα, ήσυχα νερά και να έχετε κατά νου ότι θα μπορούσατε να πέσετε! Αυτό είναι το διασκεδαστικό κομμάτι!

If you are a beginner let your first time be in calm, flat water and keep in mind you could be falling! That’s the fun part!

Get the board out into in water so the fin is free from hitting the bottom.
Start out on your knees and take a few strokes on each side of the board.
Slowly, stand up with one foot at a time and stay in the middle of the board with your feet parallel to the stringer – about shoulder width apart.
Keep a slight bend in the knees and your core centered over the board.
Make sure you have these in mind!!!
Always hold the paddle from the top of the handle. Lots of people always want to hold the paddle like a broomstick, with both hands on the shaft. Don’t do it! Always grab it from the top handle with one hand and the other on the shaft.
Keep your feet parallel and spread shoulder width apart. Everyone wants to get in a surf stance, but that makes paddling on the flat water ten times harder. Plus, you will fall.Save your surf stance for the surf, and keep your feet parallel with toes pointed toward the nose.
Make sure your grip on the paddle is shoulder width apart. Short grips will give you a powerless stroke.
Dip the blade fully into the water and take a long stroke, letting your large back muscles do the work. Many people put the full brunt of the stroke on the arms. Let the big back muscles do the brunt of the work.

STONE HOUSE ARIS

It is a two-storey house (maisonette) with one bedroom on each floor, a bathroom (with a whirlpool bath) and a WC. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen, a living-room with an air-condition and a TV, as well as a balcony, for moments of relaxation. In the upper bedroom there is a double and a single bed. The house can accomodate up to 5 people.
